Intentional Questions

Written by Sonia Bajaj

Therapy is a great space to reflect on how our experiences have shaped us. It can also be a source of continued self-exploration. Questions are a great way to continue this journey with our loved ones outside of therapy. With respect to family dynamics, they can help us learn more about our relatives and close friends. Consider asking some of the following thought-provoking questions over dinner. They just might help you learn something new about someone you care about!

What is something memorable that happened today?

What would you have changed about today if you could go back in time?

What is something that made you smile?

Did you face any disappointments today?

How did you overcome a setback?

Is there anything you feel you need help with?

What are you most proud of yourself for today?

Did anything happen today that made you feel unsafe?

What are you looking forward to tomorrow or this week?

What is something that caught you by surprise today?

What is something you’ve made progress on?

What is something you want to continue working on this week?

How can I help you tomorrow?

How can I be there for you?

These are some intentional questions that can help foster meaningful connection. If you are interested in further nurturing your relationships, therapy can be a great place to grow that skillset. Contact us today to learn about how we can help support that process!
